The Tiger Bay Club of Volusia County had a great turnout on January 16 for the Annual Dinner.  The Inaugural Tiger Bay Founders Award was presented to Hyatt Brown for his leadership and outstanding accomplishments in Volusia County.  Hyatt and Cici Brown were on hand for the award presentation, which included a video created by Jonny Nomad Media.  The video featured several local leaders talking about the accomplishments and philanthropy of Hyatt and Cici Brown, and thanking them for the impact they have had on the Daytona Beach Area.

Dr. David Hill, Professor of Political Science at Stetson University, was the keynote speaker.  Dr. Hill provided an interesting overview of elections in America throughout history, with thoughts from a political science perspective (and a projection) as we go into the new Presidential term.  The Q & A is always a big part of the Tiger Bay program, and did not disappoint, with outstanding questions for Dr. Hill.

The Fang & Claw Award is given at each meeting to a member with the most interesting and insightful question for the speaker.  During the dinner, this award was given a new name, the Dr. Ricky Award in honor of Dr. Rick Lentz.  Dr. Lentz was a Founder and active member of the Tiger Bay Club of Volusia County who won the Fang and Claw tiger many times over the years.  Dr. Lentz passed away  recently after a battle with cancer.  His wife Sheryl, son Carl and daughter Ashley were present to receive a giant tiger with a "Dr. Ricky Award" medallion in honor of Dr. Lentz and his active participation in the Tiger Bay Club.  Congratulations to Greg Davis, winner of the first Dr. Ricky Award.

Thank you to the generous sponsors of the Annual Dinner, and everyone who attended and helped make it such a great evening .  We look forward to seeing you at the next meeting on Thursday, February 13.  Our speaker will be Roger Handberg, U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Florida.  Registration for the event is open.  If you have any problems registering, or don't receive an immediate confirmation after you register, please call or email Debbie (dconnors@tigerbayclubvolusia.org).
